The 3 Main Types Of Motorcycles Pros And Cons

The thrill of riding with the wind in your face, the roar of the engine and ease of maneuverability make motorcycles fun. Fuel economy and a lower sticker price than cars make them even more attractive. There are three main types of motorcycles: street bikes, off-road bikes and dual-purpose bikes.
Street motorcycles: Street bikes are the most common motorcycle type. They are designed to be ridden on paved roads.

Features: Street motorcycles feature aerodynamic body panels and fenders to cover the functional components of the bike. They also have car-like features including cushy seats, speedometers and odometers, storage areas and smoother tires for a comfortable ride.
Strengths: Street bikes make excellent modes of regular transportation. They have high fuel economy, with some bikes getting around 100 miles to the gallon. Certain types of street bikes are even ideal for long-distance traveling. Tending to cost less than cars and trucks, street bikes are an affordable option for many commuters.
Weaknesses: If you want to take your bike off-roading, a street motorcycle isnt your best option. The smooth tires and suspension are ineffective on rugged terrain. Also, while these bikes feature some storage, its not as much as you could get in a car.
Types: Among the many types of street motorcycles available, these are most common:

Cruisers: These comfortable bikes are perfect for driving around town. When seated, your feet are forward, your arms are slightly raised and your back is either straight or slightly reclined. A classic example of a cruiser is a Harley-Davidson. Chopper-style motorcycles also qualify as cruisers.
Sport bikes: These racy little bikes are commonly referred to crotch rockets for their speed and loud sound. When you ride one of these bikes, youre hunched forward with your legs bent and feet slightly behind you. Sport bikes are lightweight and have great speed and maneuverability. However, they are less comfortable due to the seating position and lack of compartments.
Touring: Touring motorcycles are built for long-distance travel. The curved seat and high back support allow you to sit in a relaxed, upright position. They also have plenty of storage compartments for luggage as well as a small windshield, large fuel tank and spacious bodies.
Off-road motorcycles: These motorcycles, also called dirt bikes, are best suited to recreational use and in sports such as motocross and rallies. Their rugged designs enable them to travel muddy trails and rocky terrain.

Features: Off-road motorcycles are lightweight due to their small engines and lack of body features. They also have large, knobby tires built to navigate uneven surfaces.
Strengths: This type of motorcycle is perfect if youre an outdoor adventurer. You can ride through trails and up hills and mountains with ease. You can also ride in competitions like motocross or rallies.
Weaknesses: Most off-road motorcycles cant function as regular transportation. They are missing certain features, like lights, mirrors and emissions standards required to travel on streets. Also, many states wont issue license plates to off-road motorcycles.
Types: Off-road motorcycles vary depending on the sport or event for which they are intended. Motocross, perhaps the most popular, features bikes that are exceptionally light so they can easily clear jumps. Rallies, which are races through the desert, require heavier bikes with larger fuel tanks to travel long distances.
Dual-purpose motorcycle: If you cant decide between a street bike and an off-road bike, there is a compromise: the dual purpose. The dual purpose bike can go off-roading and travel on streets, though its not as rugged as an off-road bike, nor as comfortable as a street bike.

Features: Dual purpose motorcycles resemble street bikes with their heavier weights and fuller bodies. They also meet road standards by having lights, mirrors, acceptable emissions standards and license plates. Off-road features of dual-purpose bikes include higher clearance and rugged tires.
Strengths: These bikes can be used for daily travel on paved roads as well as for weekend recreation. They can also handle rougher terrain than some street bikes.
Weaknesses: Due to heavier weight, these bikes cant climb especially rough terrain like an off-road bike. Additionally, sportier versions of dual purpose motorcycles are missing comfort features, making them less suitable for long-distance travel.
Types: Adventure-touring bikes are the most common of these dual purpose machines. They have the weight and look of a street bike, with larger fuel tanks and storage compartments, but can handle gravel and some off-road scenarios. Bikers who want even more off-road capabilities out of a dual-purpose bike should consider enduro and supermoto bikes, which resemble off-road bikes in looks and performance.

No matter which type of bike suits you best, its important to protect your investment with affordable motorcycle insurance. Nationwide Insurance offers motorcycle insurance coverage tailored to your needs and budget. This lets you enjoy riding with peace of mind knowing that youre covered in the event of an accident, damage or theft. Depending on your driving record and the street legal motorcycle you own, you may also be eligible for motorcycle insurance discounts.

What Is Ex Works

Well, if you are into shipping or your business is related to import exports, then it is good to pick up some shipping and payment terms that will help you get an idea of what your customer or supplier is saying. Now today I am going to hand you the meaning of EXW or Ex Works in a silver platter. So if you intend to be in international business and import exports, then do pay attention.

Ex Works simply means this:

If you decide to buy 10 million dollars worth of plastic widget from me, and you prefer to arrange your own transport, then I will quote you my plastic widget, Ex Works or Ex Factory. Quoting you Ex Works means that the price you get from me only includes the price you pay for the finished goods I have produced in my factory. The transportation costs and other expenses related are actually yours to bear. So if you buy ex factory, you need to factor in other costs involving transportation mostly, before taking that figure as your net cost.

So when the full quantity of plastic widgets are completed, then you just simply arrange your own transportation and have the goods delivered from my factory, warehouse, or site.

Simple isnt it?! Sometimes, when a buyer is hurrying you for price estimation, quoting EX WORKS will help to give them an estimated price and costing reference for their projects. You should always let them know that your price is EX Works and not Delivered, FOB or CNF which I will go through with you later on.

Ex Works pricing is also more accurate as an indicator of the products price in any region as your perception of the local price of that product is not affected by the transportation cost.

In some cases, customers want you to quote Ex Works because they are not so sure about the status of their projects yet. By the time they want to buy, the transportation costs may have fluctuated beyond their current estimation.

So always be very clear in your terms and conditions when quoting your customer or buying from a vendor. Dont surprise your customer later with a much higher price when you factor in the transport. If transportation is going to cost a bomb, be sure to let the customer know in advanced. Dont ever surprise them especially if the goods being dealt actually command very little margin. Also, as a buyer, it is your responsibility to find out what are the potential transportation charges that are likely incurred so you need not be surprised or get a heart attack when you find out that transportation just inflated 60% to your total cost. It could happen to you.

Ok folks, remember, EX WORKS or EXW is buying based on a price quoted to you without transportation or delivery to your site. It just means you buy at a price where the manufacturer has the limited duty for producing and placing the finished goods at his factory or warehouse, and then you collect it with your own transporter.

Places Of Interest In Singapore

Singapore is a very small country by most people’s estimation. However, that is not saying that this small city state are lacking in very good tourist destinations as there are many interesting places to visit in Singapore.

There are many fascinating tourist attractions in Singapore, though, I’d say that you’d be geared towards what interest you personally. With that said, I have a list of places to visit in Singapore to anyone who’d ask me.

Sentosa

On top of my list is Sentosa. With the latest developments in this small island off the coast of mainland Singapore, it is slated to be one of the top travel destination in Southeast Asia. Resorts World Sentosa has just opened with a casino and Universal Studios Theme Park as two of its many attractions.

And of course, there’s also the pink dolphin show to entertain the whole family as well as the underwater world which boasts of a wide diversity of marine life. There’s just so many things to see in Sentosa, you’d have to spend the whole day exploring the place.

Marina Bay

Singapore Zoo and Night Safari

If you are going to Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari, be sure to put on the most comfortable footwear you ever own. It’ll take the most part of the day to tour the whole zoo and when the day is done, you will remember this nice piece of advise.

The place is like a developed jungle and has a diversity of animals I care not count. Check out the elephant show and the seal show, I’m sure the whole family will be entertained by it.

Night Safari is adjacent to the Singapore Zoo and boast of many nocturnal animals that city dwellers wouldn’t otherwise encounter. The animal show after wards just about caps the night.

Donations Of Wheelchair Accessible Vans And Tax Deductions

The Special Kids Fund is one of many non-profit organizations who dedicate their time and efforts to the welfare of kids with disabilities, special needs, and at-risk youth. Donations, particularly vehicle and wheelchair van donations, are just one of the many methods SKF uses to help support families, schools, hospitals, and programs for kids with special needs. The very dedicated people who are associated with The Special Kids Fund do their best to find ways to raise money, gather volunteers, and assist these programs in any way they can. However, their efforts alone often arent enough to maintain the expenses that are required to support the schools, hospitals, camps, programs, treatments, and individual care these children need. As a result, charity and donations are asked of the rest of the community to assist them in making their goals of helping disabled children, their families, and communities, possible.

There are approximately 4 million children under the age of 18 in the United States who have some type of disability. Some of these disabilities leave children unable to walk without some support, like a walker or crutches, and others who rely on the use of a wheelchair because they cannot walk at all. Wheelchairs obviously have certain requirements that people who can walk tend to overlook. Wheelchair vans, are a significant help when it comes to transporting a person in a wheelchair. Accommodating a wheelchair in a typical vehicle isnt easy, and the use of a wheelchair accessible vans allow these kids to be mobile, get to doctors appointments, and most importantly, to participate in other activities that their family and friends attend. There are some fortunate situations where an insurance company will cover at least a portion of the cost of a wheelchair accessible van, or the conversion of a van, enabling it to accommodate a wheelchair and lift. But most situations leave the cost of the van or conversion on the shoulders of the family alone. That is why vehicle donations and van donations are at the top of the most wanted list of SKF charitable contributions.

Many people have a van, SUV or RV that has been modified to be wheelchair accessible in order to accommodate their handicapped ore elderly family member and make transportation to the doctor, school, activities, and family trips easier on everyone. In the unfortunate event that your family experiences the loss of the family member who needed the wheelchair accessible van, or if circumstances simply change and you no longer need the van because youre getting a new one, making a vehicle donation can be beneficial to both you and the recipient. You can use the donation as a way to commemorate the passing of your loved one, and give another family the opportunity to make their life a little less difficult by giving them the gift of transportation. Another way you can benefit from a vehicle donation is the year end tax deduction. Vehicles that are already adapted and are accepted into SKFs vehicle donation program make the donor eligible for a full fair market value tax deduction.

In 2005, IRS Vehicle Donation Laws changed to only allow up to a $500 deduction based on the fair market value and requires that the owner determine its value based on its actual condition. Vehicle Donation Programs like SKFS allow you to get the best IRS deduction since the donated wheelchair vehicle is a gift to a needy family rather than sold or auctioned. If the vehicle appraises over $5000, the IRS requires a certified appraisal, but this does allow you to get the highest deduction, even under the new IRS rules.

SKF and other non-profit organizations like them, whose mission and dedication to giving a better life to kids with special needs and their families is so important to our communities and their children who may be considerable restricted otherwise. By vehicle donations you become a part of their quest to improve the lives of those with special needs and the people responsible for caring for them. By making a vehicle donation, you become a part of the combined efforts that are already in place striving to help out one person or family at a time. Wheelchair vans allow families to spend time together as a family, to go out to dinner, family outings, on vacations, and even the simple everyday trips. Remember that your donations and charity not only benefit those on the receiving end, but you too, both in the form of tax deductions as well as a greater feeling of self-worth, knowing that you have made a dramatic difference in the lives of others.

Different Forms Of Tourism

With the introduction of e-commerce or online business, tourism products have become one of the most traded items on the internet. Today, it is easy as ever to buy an airline ticket, a tourism package or even planning your own trip from where you sleep to where you eat and shop. There are even websites that help you plan your own tour or you can buy directly from the separate hotels and airlines to do it without the intermediaries. As it has grown more convenient to plan and go on a tour, there has been an up market trend in the tourism all over the world over the last decade.

Most of the top visited countries are on the European continent along with the United States and China. Since most of the tourists are people with high level of disposable income, having a popular tourist site greatly benefits the country’s economy. With this fact know, many countries offer cheaper and simpler way of travel within their country and even a set policy for tourists. Along with that, the development of technology in transportation, such as making a bigger and faster airplane, resulting in many low-cost airlines along with easier access to buying tickets online made many different types of tourism more affordable and more accessible. Though there has been set backs at certain tourist attraction sites due to terrorist threats and environmental issues, the tourism market still stands as one of the strongest market in the world.

Today, with the easier access to travel, many different types and forms of travel emerged. Though it still carries the traditional form of traveling to a different place, the usual purpose of site seeing has become more specialized. There is something called an Eco-tourism where people travel to seek out a new way of life, mostly pro-nature type of life, where they will be more helpful towards the environment. Another type of tourism is Medical tourism. There are many different reasons behind this type of tourism.
Most of the medical tourists travel because they are seeking a cheaper medical treatment along with some sightseeing as well. Most of this is due to the different medical insurance policy around the globe. People from countries that offer public health care insurance go to countries without public health care since they get what they pay for, but people from countries without health care travel to get a cheaper and affordable treatment along with a better regulatory system.

Other tourism trends include celebrity tourism, where tourists will do leisure activities which involve showbiz events and some popular film sites, educational tourism, where people travel to gain knowledge overseas about the different cultures and ideas to gain more insight. Some people go on what is called an adventure tourism where they hire a local citizen to see how the locals view the tourist sites. With all the different types and methods of travel, it seems like it only gets better for the travelers each day, so why not go online and check out what is offered to you. You might find something just for you.
